CAPTURED: AUG 2, 2025 @ 11:20pm
It was a LONG and tiring 42 days, but with a TON of time, patience and help from sooooo many good humans and our AMAZING friends at Duck Team 6 #RunawayDarla is running NO MORE!
Our stakeout was a TOTAL SUCCESS and Darla and I both got likely our first GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP in SIX WHOLE WEEKS! We were home and getting settled to bed by midnight

This morning (8/3) she has been napping and playing with the pups. She comes right to me like nothing happened and I've been getting little kisses here and there too!
I cannot put into words how over the moon we are that Darla is back home and she is SAFE! Aside from some loose and yucky poo, a already healed scratch on her leg and a little notch taken from her ear, Darla looks wonderful! She will be going to the vet for a full check up though and to finish her vetting asap!
When we say "it takes a village" it truly does. I cannot even begin to name off all the people who helped get this done. From our great friends at Duck Team 6 to the nice people who gave her water at her safe spot every day, all the people who shared her posts, donated items, called in sightings and let us take over their yards and our wonderful friends at Four Nine Print Co who made and donated the fantastic, eye catching signs that originally got us our first confirmed sighting and the word in the neighborhood going around!
We couldn't have got this girl without everyone looking out for Darla! THANK YOU ALL!
Last KNOWN
7/28 Still working on trapping. We've got her schedule down decently well and we have her going about half way in the trap, but she's still not fully trusting it. Fingers crossed!!!
7/26 Darla is still frequenting the same area and still visiting her feeding station but not going all the way in. We are working different angles and still seeing her daily but have yet to have any luck catching Darla. PLEASE CONTINUE TO REPORT SIGHTINGS. We're so close!!!
7/21 Today marks ONE MONTH since Darla escaped her foster home. Last night, Darla made an appearance at the trap/feeding station. She didn't stay long but she ate up all the food and even took one of the toys we left for her out of the trap. We had a few more sightings of her during the day today and spotted her twice this evening south of Central Elementary School. THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO IS LOOKING OUT FOR HER AND REPORTING SIGHTINGS! Every sighting helps us to learn more about her movements, every day! *Please Note!* - If you see one of our signs removed, it does NOT mean we have caught her but likely that she is frequenting that particular area and we do not want the attention to scare her away. We WILL UPDATE IMMEDIATELY ONCE SHE IS SAFE!
7/17 1:30pm - so far no Darla sightings for today.
We have called both Carrollton and Farmers Branch Shelters to see if they have her husky friend, "Mr. Red" and so far no one has seen him.
7/16 Darla has not been seen with her Husky friend since the morning of 7/15. She appeared to be hanging out on the same street she was last seen with him, possibly waiting for him to return. Later in the evening, around 8:30, she was spotted three times, North of Central Elementary School with a little black dog. (presumably the same little black dog she was with last week but hard to tell from photo)
7/13 She is still in the area & w/ her Husky friend!
7/12 @ 7:30am Darla was seen near Moonbeam and Chevy Chase. She is hanging out with the red Husky again from last week, but no one knows who he belongs to. If we can locate the owners, we may be able to try getting her at his house since she and he seem to be good buddies.
*Please see photo and let us know if you recognize him!
7/11 No Confirmed Sightings Yesterday *PLEASE KEEP HER FACE AND STORY OUT THERE so people recognize and can report when they see her!
7/9 Two Confirmed Sightings 7am @ Foxcrost Ln & School Rd also Burning Tree & Foxcrost Ln (two calls same time frame)
7/8 8:30pm @ Kirby and Crosby - went by Fuente Commuinty Church heading E
7/6 Darla is still in the area of TURNER HS and Centeral
7/5 @ 1:30pm Darla found a friend and has gone off normal routine but was spotted by Central Elementary & Turner HS on Cox.
7/2 UPDATE: Darla is still evading capture. We've seen her and have several sightings, and have been working with our friends at Duck Team 6 to trap, but so far, still no luck! *We appreciate all the calls of sightings! It is helping more than you can even know!* Please CONTINUE to REPORT SIGHTINGS so we can get her home safe!
6/30 UPDATE We have SEVERAL CONFIRMED SIGHTINGS of Darla since this past Friday. We have personally seen her and are learning and tracking her routine. We are working on a capture plan and ask the public to still report sightings in the mean time to help us keep tabs on our girl and watch for any changes in her routine! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!
